ObamaCare: A lesson for Republicans

by Alex Ritz on February 22, 2010

The United States now has a White House and Congress who are knowingly ignoring the American people and pushing ObamaCare forward. The threats are coming fast and furious from both sides of the debate. Liberals threaten reconciliation while the Republicans maneuver to position themselves as something other than the party of no. There are 2 important lessons for the Republicans to take from the current situation.

First, it is indeed a good thing that the Republicans are standing as the party of no. The agenda being pushed by this White House is far left and far outside the mainstream. Most Americans do not want this agenda to be successful. The only reason we dont have health care, cap and trade and card check is that the American people have spoken and clearly told their representatives that they don’t want it. Thank God for that. Republicans need to continue to stand as the party of no. A bad idea is a bad idea no matter which party initiates the effort. Republicans are defending what is left of liberty in this country. When Congress is gridlocked its a good thing for our freedom and liberty. Embrace the gridlock it and hope that it occurs more often.

Second, any Republican who initially voted for ObamaCare to “have the debate on the floor” should be shown the door. Everything that is happening now was foreseeable by those of us paying attention in the electorate, it certainly should have been plain as day to the Olympia Snowe’s of the world. But those RINO’s that did vote to “move the process along” have assisted the Democrat party and put all Americans is this very dangerous position. It is partly due to their cowardice and their desire to not be seen as obstructionist that has led us to these dire circumstances. Granted, the Republicans did not have the votes to stop anything prior to Scott Brown but this lack of foresight and clear lack of principle should not go unpunished. Both bills, the House and Senate versions, were crap from the jump. No Republican should have ever voted to move the process along.

The fight isn’t over. A clear and vocal majority of the American people are standing together against our own government. The arrogance and ineptitude of this Administration is something to behold. I believe that in the end liberty and freedom will win out over the authoritarian tactics of this White House.

God Bless America
